Going back to 1950 represents earth weather "history". All I can say is BS!!

EU Scientist ... oxymoron.
“EU scientist” is a self-contradiction.
Did that heat pump cycle through defrost ? If your outside temps are below 32, the coils coils outside can freeze up.
Well, then, go shut the volcanoes down in the Pacific!
And consulted The Magic Hockey Stick.
Not in the below zero Ozarks this January!
Since 1950. Their ‘history’ doesn’t even cover my life span.
“It was 4F here in SE TN and the first time in 30 years we had a lot of snow...”
I’ve seen it drop to -10 in Nashville back in the 90s. The year I was born (1950) it snowed three feet.
When it comes to weather, history is not a long time. Of course scientists can pretty accurately produce evidence that the Earth was far hotter in the past. There are tropical plant and animal fossils in England and the Hudson Bay. So, there was virtually no ice anywhere at all. The Earth is over 4 billion years old. But those fossils had mammals, like modern day hippos. So we are talking about the last 500 million years and likely far more recent than that. In fact it is likely to have been hotter in the past 200 years. We can only sort of measure the past 200 years. And most of that we are really only measuring a small part of the world. And as we know. One side can be very hot while the other side can be very cold. So reliable history is about 100 years old. And maybe half of that. Anyway I do remember a very cold stretch in the early eighties. Half of the 20 coldest days in Chicago come from 1982 to 1985. So if you start there, we are getting very hot. And if you start in the 1933s and go forward we are going sideways to lower. The reality is that the Earth changes its temps all the time and we have been measuring it only for the past .0000001% of the Earths life.
They simply make crap up-—I love when they state “a new record”. I simply look at weather history and notice how warm it was on the same date——in 1871. In the age of information, nobody uses the “information” they are given.
I recall articles last year about them moving the monitoring stations closer to heat sources. Not sure where to find them at this point. Might that have an impact on readings?
Not in Texas.
We had the longest stretch of single digit or negative temperatures in decades a couple of weeks ago. Snowed more than since 1993.
I got my fuel bill for January. Maybe one uses more heating oil when it’s hot outside? Nah, I think it’s more likely this “scientist” has his head up his ass.
Move your thermometers out of the sun.
I would think having a warm January where there is normally cold would be a good thing.
Indeed
Records going back to 1950.
“Last month surpassed the previous warmest January, which occurred in 2020, in C3S’s records going back to 1950.”
