A U.S. drone strike hit a car in the Iraqi capital Wednesday night, killing three members of the powerful Kataib Hezbollah militia, including a high-ranking commander, officials said.
The strike came on a main thoroughfare in the Mashtal neighborhood in eastern Baghdad. A crowd gathered as emergency response teams picked through the wreckage.
A U.S. official familiar with the matter said that a senior Kataib Hezbollah commander was targeted in a U.S. strike on Wednesday in Iraq. The official was not authorized to comment publicly and requested anonymity.
Two officials with Iran-backed militias in Iraq said that one of the three killed was Wissam Mohammed “Abu Bakr” al-Saadi, the commander in charge of Kataib Hezbollah’s operations in Syria.

Iraq is supposedly a friendly country having completed a US enforced regime change and setting up a constitutional democracy under the watchful eyes of the UN. This US drone strike was on the streets of their capital.
I am thinking back to Kabul when the WH killed the bomber who was responsible for killing 13 of our service men/women at the airport, that turned out to be a mistake. It was a poor man and his family killed by our drone.
This WH administration could screw up a one-cart parade. It would be funny if it weren’t for all the dead bodies.
I've read that several Generals advised GW Bush to take out Saddam and a handful of his top leaders, leaving the government and what remained of the military intact. It was Bush who personally insisted on outlawing the Baathists and dissolving the military. It was de-Baathification that gave us the insurgency.

Exactly. Keep paying them, keep them around, and organized. Simply replace the top commanders. Keep them busy training, have one unit dig big holes in the desert, and then send another unit to fill those holes in again.
A pretty clear message that the US knows who is doing bad things, knows where they are, and can surgically kill anyone it wants to.
