Among other things, it was to “balance the books” for Bill Clinton. They truly fear Trump for the threat of exposure he poses. That being said, the Trial would have received lots of media attention, and it would have given the Republicans a stage to present a lot of evidence that might not ever be revealed as Washington just moves from one scandal to another.
Exactly. The only way the GOP can have a platform that the MSM must cover. But I understand that the Senate can, by simple majority, refuse to take the case.
