The Amish pay cash for everything they buy. That is how it is different. They pay their hospital bills with cash when services are provided.
Three entirely different situations. How can you even lump the land-owning, productive Amish in with the other two situations? They were not herded into a government reservation; their Anabaptist forefathers came to this continent before the United States was even formalized, and established their communities by land grants or by buying land.
