"I’m sure some reporters interviewed hitler in the 1940’s. This is no different."

The New York Slimes sent their Chief Foreign Correspondent to Berlin to attend Hitler's 50th birthday celebration. A New York Slimes Journalist toured the newly opened prison called Dachau, which held political prisoners. The commandant took the reporter around the camp, never mentioning that 5 men (4 of them Jews) had been shot in the back of the head the week before. The reporter wrote a glowing review of the camp, and the man that was running it. And then there is the New York Slimes and their correspondent Guido Enderis:

The New York Times’ ‘Nazi Correspondent’

I think that you do not understand people’s need to not be lied to. FR, the stories, are almost completely lies, especially involving the Ukraine. This is because the MSM is now completely shameless in their lying. There are no repercussions. They have a cause and are naked propagandists for it.

I still find FR useful, even under the current paradigm, because some posters and some stories are not as full of lies as TV or Social Media. It requires a lot of thought for understanding and discernment, but I find no other alternative.

What I have seen of TC, I generally like. If he is lying, he’s pretty good at it. I am sure he is, in no way, perfect, but there are few choices. I expect an interview with Putin, on Putin’s home turf and at Putin’s request, will have an obvious imbalance. I expect Putin to lie. But I feel I have no choice but to listen to a host of liars and try to discern the truth.

I adhere to the “House” theory: Everyone lies.

Politics is full of people, full of crap.

I would imagine you know this. Knowing this means that in order to come to some form of the truth you need to do your own, unemotional research. That means tuning out the people who yell and scream—if one has to yell and scream they are failing.

I think TC is a smart guy. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. Do I think he is lying? Probably not…but he has thrown in with a bunch of liars. And the people who “follow” him are the kind who yell and scream. That tells me their arguments are probably weak.

Again, when it comes to the whole Putin thing, would anyone expect that guy to say anything new? I always thought Putin was smarmy and when I see him in interviews he comes across as someone who needs a good slap.

So…I cannot generate a whole bunch of enthiusiasm for this whole thing. The ONLY good news is it takes a little of the Taylor Swift stuff off the screen. There is going to be enough of THAT next week.

Didn’t George W Bush have Putin over to his ranch around 2003?

I guess Dick Cheney regrets not taking him quail hunting. Or getting the Rooskies into NATO while there was still a chance.

I’m looking forward to reading or watching any coverage of this interview, even if it’s tainted by any fawning etc, you can always get some useful info about how long we might still have before WW-III. I don’t want to make too many travel plans until I’m fairly confident I won’t get blown up in Nevada. I prefer to be slowly starving to death at home as ever increasing doses of lethal radiation blow in on south winds.

The Putin visit was Nov 16, 2001. Bush said afterwards that the USA and Russia had a lot of things they could agree on and work towards a better relationship.

or it might be their job to cry foul at anything and everything that goes against the current narrative, and this particular subject got top priority.

Who is in your view a “journalist” that you’d trust to interview Putin with objective professionalism?
