US political commentator Tucker Carlson came to Moscow on February 3, amid speculation that the goal of the visit is to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin, boosting the ex-Fox News host's popularity in the country. Sputnik explores why.
In one video of Tucker Carlson meeting one of his Russian fans in Moscow, a man’s voice can be heard praising the 54-year-old conservative commentator as the “best US journalist.”
The former Fox News anchor is then seen thanking the man and lauding Moscow as a beautiful city that he had planned to visit for a long time.
But why is Carlson so popular in Russia?
Some Career Flashbacks
Fox News surprisingly announced that the company and Carlson had agreed to part ways in April last year, despite the fact that he hosted the network's top-rated program at the time.
Numerous media reports suggested that Tucker was let go due to his coverage of some controversial topics - ranging from the January 6, 2021, US Capitol breach to the COVID-19 measures to White House support for Kiev in the Ukraine conflict.
Others, however, insist that Carlson was fired for his criticism of Fox News' senior management.
In early May, the ex-Fox News host took to Twitter to announce a new show on this social networking giant’s venue. Tucker added that his new program will be "a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years." The Tucker on Twitter show was rebranded as Tucker on X shortly after the website changed its name.
Tucker's Stance on Russia, US, Ukraine
When it comes to Carlson’s ever-increasing popularity in Russia, it’s safe to say that many Russians perceive him as a window to America, which allows them to learn about US domestic issues from sources other than the liberal press.

Carlson is willing to give Russia a voice that the MSM is willing to deny.

Let them give a clear and detailed synopsis of exactly how and why they were compelled to invade Ukraine.
2) He brought Putin faced dart boards. 3) He left.
They would tell you the buildup of the Western forces around the Ukraine forced their hand.
Now maybe the US can explain why they felt the need to violate its agreement to Ukraine neutrality and build the military forces up around the Ukraine.
Actually Putin did just before the initial invasion. If he was telling the truth, the actions of Russia were just and we are completely in the wrong. I don’t know what is correct but I do know that this fraudulent corrupt government we are currently saddled with lies.

I want Putin to say it again. We are a year or three into this thing. Who knows how they’ll spin it now. At least it will give legs to the debate. This shiite needs to go away. Our real enemies are here, not there.
They have and you ignore it. We fanned the embers of nazism in western Ukraine. We spent a few billion and helped them throw a coup. We pushed for them to come into NATO right up to Russia’s border and taking over the Navy base at Sevastopol.
When ethnic cleansing started the Donbass and Crimea opted out of the coup. So Kiev attacked to try to spread their power to all of old Ukraine’s territory. Minsk II was exposed to be nothing but a ploy to build up forces for more fighting.
All their offers of negotiations with us were bluntly refused.
This left Putin two choices. One unacceptable, and a tragic one.
1) Do nothing and watch NATO base all over Ukraine, and watch the Ukes complete the ethnic cleansing.
2) fight and get what we have today.
We forced him into it. And he knows the lesson of Munich.
Ultimately an expansionist authoritarian enemy only respects force.
He did the right thing. But it’s sad we created this hell on earth. Hopefully Putin’s actions weaken the DC/EU/London Axis.
Right on the money. It is always nice to know that there are still some people who can see things for what they really are.
Who ya going to believe?
Those in the U.S. government who are corrupt to their core? Who intentionally involve themselves in other countries, who attempt to destabilize other countries, who lie to the American people daily, who created lawless open borders where tens of millions are encouraged to invade our own country, all while they tell us white people are the enemy? Where they attempted to criminally undermine, compromise and over throw Trump’s presidency?
TC will be moving to a free country soon and taking language lessons from some cute guys he met along the way to the Kremlin.
You sound like a spurned Lover because he didn’t invite you.😂🇷🇺
“They would tell you the buildup of the Western forces around the Ukraine forced their hand.”
Not only was Ukraine not a member of NATO but it hadn’t even applied for membership.
Additionally, there was NO “Western buildup.” The only redeployment of NATO troops before the Russian invasion was on February 5 when the first of 2,000 U.S. soldiers to Europe arrived in GERMANY and POLAND.
Tucker just bought a place next to the Volga river.
He says it is a great fishing site....
LOL, sure, Putin invading neighboring countries in Europe(WW2 anybody?) for territorial annexation is the "right thing". Idiocy
Ukraine has the right to make any economic or military agreement, just like Finland or any another county in Europe.
In 2003 Putin and the Ukrainian president signed “Treaty Between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Russian–Ukrainian State Border”. It set Ukraine’s borders as they were in 1991 & was lodged with the UN.
Because Russian State TV showcases Tucker Carlson's visit to Russia?
You’d be wrong.
