Washington — President Biden cruised to an easy victory Saturday in South Carolina's Democratic primary as the incumbent facing two long-shot candidates, winning about 96% of the vote. But for voters in the Palmetto State, which marked the beginning of the Democratic primary nominating calendar this year, turnout was exceedingly low.

South Carolina primary voter turnout for 2024 Around 131,000 South Carolinians voted in the 2024 Democratic primary, making up just around 4% of registered voters statewide. The showing marks the lowest turnout in the last few presidential primaries for Democrats, though those contests were notably more competitive.

How does 2024 South Carolina Democrat turnout compare to previous years?

Turnout for this year's Democratic primary fell well below previous contests. In 2020, 540,000 people — around 16% of voters — participated in the Democratic primary, while in 2016, 373,063 — more than 12% — did the same. In 2012, former President Barack Obama ran unopposed in the primary, but in 2008, 532,151 turned out, accounting for around 23% of registered voters, according to the South Carolina Election Commission.

The Democrats are having another fake primary election in Nevada today.

There does not seem to be much enthusiasm for their CCP-like single candidate primaries.

In South Carolina last Tuesday only 131,000 Democrats voted compared with 540,000 in 2020.

News reports tend to only give percentages, not vote totals, presumably to divert attention away from Biden's lack of support.

SC is open primary. The Dems always vote in GOP primary to cause chaos. That’s why Lindsey is always re-elected. This year, they are all waiting to vote for Trikki Nikki.

“This year, they are all waiting to vote for Trikki Nikki.”

If Democrats and the Haley campaign were smart, they would have her change parties and run as a Democrat. That’s the only way she is going to get a sniff at the White House. Mayor Pete can be her running mate.

SC is an open primary state. Dems who did not vote on Feb 3 could vote in the Rep primary on Feb 24. Stay tuned.

>not vote totals

Yeah, this is going to make the Dems even more paranoid if the bridge they have to gap with fraud is much larger than they think. No real enthusiasm.

Don’t worry. Democrats will vote for Biden in the general election. Even if they don’t vote and especially if they vote for Trump.

Democrats vote for the party, not the man. As long as Biden gives them everything they want, which he has, up to this point.

BIG canary in the coal mine. Yes, it wasn’t a competitive election, but Trump got 40,000 more votes in little New Hampshire!

Also, this signifies blacks are NOT turning out for Rutabaga. The turnout for blacks was only good in college towns.

I don’t care if they put the resurrected composite of FDR and JFK in the top spot, they are losing this election huge. And they can’t cheat their way out of this one.

Acting president Biden won 96% of the vote with 4% of registered voters turning out. Think that through.
People who vote in primaries are regular voters. They don’t miss a chance to cast a vote. And it was South Carolina that but the vegetable over the top in the run up to the 2020 election.

Think of how much Clyburn saved in “walking around money”.

One would think the Republican controlled legislature would put a stop to open primaries and let each party elect their own preferred candidates without interference, but then again the South Carolina Republican Party is utterly infested with liberal/Marxist leaning trash-I give you JEB Haley, LindaG, Windbag Gowdey just to name a few of the liberals that infest the SC GOP.
