Atlanta is battling a squatting crisis as 1,200 homes have been overtaken and landlords have to clear the unwanted residents themselves or wait months for police.
The situation has become so dire that some homeowners offer to pay off squatters to get them out of their homes - rather than risk losing months of rent.
One squat in the Georgia city was even being run as illegal secret strip club and had to be cleared out by an entire FBI swat team.

I had multiple rentals for 25 years. Managed them myself. Worked out great. Very few problems, all minor. Sold the last 4 units in 2019. Now that we are lawless that business is over for me, which is fine, it served its purpose. Young people are going to be sorry they fell for this purposeful destruction of civilization.
Gloomy prospect and yet the alternative to having President Trump doing his all to fix things with everyone who is willing to help is too awful to contemplate.
Probably involved interstate transport for purposes of prostitution
“The most important element of civilization is property rights.”
It is certainly a starting point if this country is to survive or rebuild if it comes to that. A few years ago we decided to downsize as it was that time (the old adage = you spend 2/3 of your life accumulating things and the last 1/3 giving it away) as we sold off our cottage of 30 years in northern Michigan and decided we just didn’t fit in the shiny expensive suburbs of Detroit any longer, sold off my business and we just downsized and semi-retired. We finally found a place in S MI that has everything, a pond, acreage, lots of wildlife and extremely quiet for a fraction of the price it would be in any decent ‘burb. After a few months of living here wife kinda’ complained about all the gunshots coming from the background in every direction as it is rather rural. I said “yes honey, but this is why we and everybody else leaves the doors unlocked and can live off our land if we have to.”
So yes, property rights is everything.
Because the political party of street thugs and perverts has seized control. If they don't come to know fear, then all will be lost.
I see that Chicago wants to sue the businesses that are closing because of theft!
Instead of addressing WHY they are closing, those people are blaming the companies for needing to protect themselves, their employees and their property from those criminals!!!!
We need the armed, smoking rooftop Korean shop owners!!!!!!!
This is appalling, but there are steps that can be taken to prevent it. Get a monitored alarm system for any vacant property you own. That way you’ll know when the scum first break in and can call the police before they have a chance to change the locks. Conceal surveillance cameras inside the dwelling. This will give evidence and may let you know when they’re all out and you can take over.
Never EVER invest your hard-earned money in a rental property.
How difficult is it to write a law that says if you have proof you own a property it's your property and anyone who you hasn't been given the owner's permission to be there or live there are trespassing and can be forcibly removed?
That’s a plan but too many of those 1200 are wimps.
As with many criminal cases these days, the judges let them go free as birds.
Don’t make large investments in democrat cities and this is otherwise a problem few have.
OK, let me see if I’ve got this straight. If a squatter moves into your home, you are pretty much on your own to get them out. But if the squatter opens up ‘an illegal secret strip club’, it becomes a matter for the FBI. Why? Is it because the squatter failed to get the proper permits and pay the required fees to open a strip club?
Deprive a citizen of his rightful income, not the government’s problem. Deprive the government of its income, very big problem and action will be taken.
We cannot vote our way out of this.
Agree with you about property rights being important and these laws are written to give renters more power over someone else’s property. There was a reason property owners were the only ones allowed to vote because they’re footing the bill.
