Nope you completely missed my point. Yes I said time served. On a 25 year sentence parole eligibility may be as early as 1/3 time served but is more common at 1/2 time served. That at best would be 8 years 4 months for beating a dog vs 7 years for killing someone. Still an absurd, cruel and unusual punishment for beating a dog.

Well, things are different between Texas and Georgia, and I was going with the Georgia parole rules since you are flying a Ga flag on your home page.

In Texas, for most felonies one is eligible for parole after serving 25% of the sentence; for certain 3(g) offenses (including murder, sexual assault and child molestation) it is 50% and if the sentence is less than 4 years, a minimum of 2 years served.
