Your quote immediately brought to mind Begin’s book “The Revolt”(I’m sure you’ve read it, but if not, do so.). He and Shamir, were the two greatest leaders of the post WWII battle for the formation of the State of Israel. It was Rabin, under orders from Ben-Grurion who, to their everlasting shame and damnation, opened fire on their fellow Jews during the Altalena affair. Begin, to his honor, refused to return fire on fellow Jews. A nitty gritty great man!
ABI GEZUNT!
He also refused to leave the ship until everyone was safely on land. He was an heroic revolutionary, but a bad Prime Minister. Ben Gurion, however, was a treacherous snake of a revolutionary, but a great Prime Minister. Politics require treachery and underhandedness, evidently.
