Ukraine tells White House of plan to fire top commander -sources

The Ukrainian government has informed the White House that it plans to fire the country's top military commander overseeing the war against Russian occupation forces, two knowledgeable sources said on Friday. The move to oust General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, who has clashed with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy over a range of issues, follows a Ukrainian counteroffensive last year that failed to recover significant amounts of Russian-held territory.

A source close to Zelenskiy's office said the pair are locked in a dispute over a new military mobilization drive, with the president opposing Zaluzhnyi's proposal to call up 500,000 fresh troops. The source, however, added that the process for relieving Zaluzhnyi of his post as the commander in chief of Ukraine's armed forces was on hold for the time being as the sides work out their next steps. It was unclear how long that process would take, added the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A second knowledgeable source said that the White House did not express a position on the plan to replace Zaluzhnyi. "I would emphasize that the White House response was that we did not support or object to their sovereign decision," said the source, who requested anonymity in order to discuss the issue. "The White House expressed that it is up to Ukraine to make its own sovereign decisions about its personnel," the source continued.

Why would Zelensky oppose calling up fresh troops?

Why would Zelensky oppose calling up fresh troops?

Because Ukraine is having more success with high tech, as witness the sinking of yet another Muskovite warship and the blowing-up of a Muskovite refinery near St. Petersburg. Brute force on the ground will get nowhere without air superiority, which Ukraine won't have for the foreseeable future.

a dispute over a new military mobilization drive

One aspect is a push to lower the age of their form of draft from 27 to 25. I don’t know which one is pushing and which one is resisting.

If they lowered it to 18 they would have plenty of manpower available.

You need troops to hold the ground you have, doesn’t matter what tech you have or don’t have.

You need enough troops to rotated those at the front out and bring in fresh replacement. The other problem is the 1500km front line which demands a lot of troops just to maintain.

The more ground you take, the more troops you need to hold it.

The Fat Lady is climbing on stage… She has her music and is clearing her wind pipe. You see, it really isn’t about who is right and who is wrong, its about who has the biggest cannons and the most shells. There are few moral wars. There is no good guys here, Both are wrong. But, Russia will win unless NATO steps in and pushes back Russia and I do not see public support for the war. World War III is about internal problems. It is hoped, a big war will unify America and the European leftist nations to hold power. The powers see this in political terms. A wag the Dog 3rd World war will keep the big people in power. Then, after the election, a UN peace, and the left can keep importing “refugees” and living in the bubble of wealth and power.
It is a false dream. Don’t take the bait—we are being scammed.

Which is why Valerii Zaluzhnyi needs 500,000 more troops. But Zelensky said no.

That will be a total mobilization. Drafting every able bodied man in Ukraine. Right now, men between the ages of 27 and 60 can be drafted.

Due to the collapse of the birth rate after the fall of the Soviet Union, there's just not that many 18 year old guys to draft in Ukraine.

Agreed in all said. One thing I learned in Intelligence in a continent away, ditch all emotion, ditch what you believe right and wrong. Simple as drawing a line down the paper and listing the facts about both sides…..after Biden’s Covid vax scam, it was obvious he shut down America through emotions and FEAR….no honesty and found guilty through ommision of the facts.

I just can not imagine how people are buying into his Ukie hoax and narrative after his Afghanistan and Covid scams.

They need 500,000 more just to cover all their losses, KIA, WIA, MIA, POW, Sick, and deserters. Believe what you will, but they are never going to scrape up anything near that, as their Congress (RADA) is showing through their failed Mobilization attempts.

Which leads to training, clothing, feeding, arming, etc….any groupings inside Ukraine will be easily smashed by Kinzals, artillery, drones, etc….as we have witnessed countless times.
