I've heard that this bill also removes the requirement of the parents having social security numbers to get this child tax credit. Since citizens all have the number, immigrant aliens working towards citizenship have social security numbers and even non-immigrant aliens with work permits have social security number that leaves illegals (and legal students and tourists who shouldn't be working here) as the beneficiaries. Cha-ching! Uncle Sucker passes out our money to people who don't deservi it once again.

The parents may not need SS, but to qualify the following is needed:

1. The child must be a citizen or have a green card
2. The child must have a SS number or an Itin

In addition, the parents need earned income to qualify.
