A SHADOW LOOMS over the world. In this week’s edition we publish The World Ahead 2024, our 38th annual predictive guide to the coming year, and in all that time no single person has ever eclipsed our analysis as much as Donald Trump eclipses 2024. That a Trump victory next November is a coin-toss probability is beginning to sink in.
Mr Trump dominates the Republican primary. Several polls have him ahead of President Joe Biden in swing states. In one, for the New York Times, 59% of voters trusted him on the economy, compared with just 37% for Mr Biden. In the primaries, at least, civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions have only strengthened Mr Trump. For decades Democrats have relied on support among black and Hispanic voters, but a meaningful number are abandoning the party. In the next 12 months a stumble by either candidate could determine the race—and thus upend the world.

Exactly.
The Economist exists to make a profit just like any other publication. I know plenty of lifelong Republicans who can’t stand Trump. They may vote for him over Biden, but they can’t wait until he is either termed out or decides not to run again. It’s entirely possible The Economist is just responding to market demand like any other business.
I really hope Trump does a better job of appealing to independent voters than he did in 2020 and doesn’t just preach some more to the MAGA choir.
My understanding is The Economist is a British rag. The British are wholly untrustworthy as a people and as a government. They have always sought to manipulate the US to do their biding and in times not needed, to undermine the US.
My taxes went nowhere but up during Trump’s term. If that’s “prosperity” I’d hate to see Trump’s idea of a recession.
They go where the easy money is. Heaven knows, the left likes spreading it around to buy consent.
They certainty do not know how the economy really works.

Unfortunately, they know all too well how a 21st century economy works: Government spending, tax incentives, central bank policy, and heavy regulation. To them a “competitive market” (free of political considerations) is something that only hayseeds believe.
The closer we get to the election the more BS they are going to spew. By the time September/October rolls around they’ll be pushing “evidence” Trump is the cloned son of Hitler and a cousin of Satan.
Publications like this used to be relatively objective and professional.
Yes but they went Stalin style propaganda it’s big business now days they learned it from the democrat party.

“Donald Trump poses the biggest danger to the world in 2024”
What absolute gall to claim something like that when we currently have an a-hole in office who in only 3 years has us on the brink of WW3
I always thought it was the voice of upper class wing of the Labor Party.
Why is this editorial in breaking news?
Not in many years. I read it and Foreign Affairs fairly regularly. They are basically globso-fascist propaganda organs, but it is instructive to get an insight into what the enemy is thinking.
Many Economist propaganda pieces are anonymous. Think of the Federalist Papers, but for globalist crypto-fascists instead.
I didn’t put it in breaking news
? What does that have to do with anything I posted?
“ Whenever I say this to leftists: “..HE’S GONNA START WWIII!!!!” LOL!!”
I remember other students saying that about Reagan in 1980.”Don’t vote for Reagan, he’ll start a war.”
I was not really political but I knew it was nonsense empty rhetoric.
They never explain why he’s “dangerous.”
Clearly it is because he has a shadow.
Vampires, fairies, and the souls delegated to hell don’t have shadows.
Wrong - he’s the most dangerous person ever in the entire history of the entire universe and the worst there will ever be. Vote for president retard instead
The Economist doesn’t have to sell me; I’m already voting for Trump.
