For girls to boys, it is something like 70% of them are on the spectrum for autism. Almost all of the other 30% have other mental issues such as OCD, anxiety, etc.
And rather than treating the actual issue that is causing them such mental anguish, these “doctors” treat them with the latest fad (VERY similar to lobotomies).
And after years of still no relief, they end up killing themselves. And it is blamed on people not accepting them as trans, rather than them not being treated for their actual issues.
I was relating one account to my son about a boy wanting to be a girl, and he had the support of his family, community, even his church. He was quite a long way through the process and he killed himself. His note said that he would never be the perfect girl.
My son quipped “No girl is.”
Oh - in reading about autism, many of them do have amazing skills in something, and want to be recognized as special for that skill or ability. But even if some people do recognize it that still can not be enough because they want to be THE best at it and EVERYONE to notice it.
I wonder if they think “Well, I know I’m different, and these people online say that I’m different and special because I’m actually trans - and if I become trans then EVERYONE will know how different and special I am!”
Well it does seem that perfectionism or “all or nothing “ thinking are part of the puzzle. Plus attention seeking and in general being awkward teenagers, as so many are. It all tugs at my heart, but none of it is helped by surgery or hormones.
