A judge who worked at the same law firm as an attorney representing a party in a case before him should recuse himself from the case. Some of these firms have thousands of lawyers and different fields of practice. They may have never even met. That would be more like having attended the same law school. If it was a small firm with only a few partners and associates, that would be quite different. JMHO.

Irrelevant. A judge must avoid the appearance of bias. The defense that "you can't prove that", just proves the point. What he did just looks bad, and no one has denied anything under oath. For most, this explains his horrible decisions: the judge is biased against Trump. Otherwise, he would have recused himself from the case.
