As the Biden administration mulls over how and when to respond to Sunday's deadly attack on U.S. troops in Jordan by Iranian-backed militias, a U.S. patrol base in Syria was attacked, two U.S. official stold The War Zone.
"On the morning of Jan. 29, multiple rockets were launched at patrol base al-Shaddadi," one of the officials said. "There were no injuries or damage reported." The officials did not specify who carried out that attack.
Earlier on Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) attributed it to Iranian-backed militias.
“Iranian-backed groups fired at last one shell on the outskirts of Al-Tawasu’aeah neighborhood near Al-Shaddadi base in south Al-Hasakah countryside,” SOHR reported. “SOHR activists have reported hearing an explosion. However, no casualties have been reported.”

Thankfully.
We do not want a full on war with Iran with Biden as POTUS. We'd surely lose.
They’re thinking about it? Trump would have leveled that site before the fires were out
It’s probably a good idea. It must be, I saw Lindsey Graham, Cornyn from Texas, McConnell and Mitt Romney all agree./s
Trump ordered them to end the Syrian thing. If they would’ve done what he said our people wouldn’t have even been there.
Absurd to believe the US would lose a war with Iran.
Once the Arabs got together enough to create OPEC, we should have seen that that was a failed strategy.
Let's put a single massive, well-protected base in the friendliest stable country and move all our troops there. Then just send out sorties from there whenever we need to rattle our sabers.
Maybe that would be Jordan or Saudi Arabia or one of the smaller Gulf States.
Similarly, since we have to station troops in South Korea, we could move all our troops in that region there. We would save money and have a stronger more centralized presence.
Did we win the war in Iraq? In Afghanistan? In Libya? In Syria? In the Ukraine? In Vietnam? In Korea?
Hi.
If it was any other time, or any other administration I’d recommend going medieval on the Persians and their allies.

What would winning a war with Iran look like?
We should strike enough of Iran’s military positions to make them stop. No need to go to war. Think Operation Praying Mantis. Of course, Brandon will order Operation Cash Pallets.
By conventional standards, yes.
Hopefully the administration will be ready to arrest the Muslim terrorists they let into the US before they attempt another 911.
All over twitter they were saying that Biden will authorize us military action in the Middle East either tonight or in the coming days they should send Biden voters to the Middle East
Considering the terror cells that are growing in number from our porous border, the war would not be conventional. A few airliners brought down by mobile surface to air missles and the U.S. would be paralyzed.
Trump called off a Bolton/Pentagram/Graham strike on Iran when they shot down one of our drones. He wasn’t itching for war. And he was smart enough to know that dangling out troops around Syria was only going to lead to trouble. Or course, the pentagon flipped him the finger and reclassified troops as “trainers” or dipped them over into Jordan…
We couldn’t really win a war with Iran, either. We could hit them a lot with missiles and bombs, disable their oil exports etc. But I don’t see any POTUS sending in ground troops to take the country. And we’d need a land base to launch an invasion which I doubt very much we would get a ‘friendly’ neighbor to support such an endeavor.
Perhaps the best option is to do the opposite of what Obama did and support the people in their uprising to overthrow the regime. The CIA is supposedly pretty good at that sort of stuff and the people are already on edge over a great number of things.
Why all these Democratic governments have been trying to prop up the mullahs is a mystery to me. They have never negotiated in good faith.
Have you ever had a thought about the worldwide placement of troops that the US has across 750+ bases that limit our ability to respond to a crisis? We are waaayyy overcommitted - if enough attacks happen at one time there are conflicts that we will lose. If the conflict lasts long enough we will run out of equipment due to a lack of spare industrial capacity. We are currently a paper tiger.
I thought the Biden badmin was mulling over whom to send a strongly worded letter.
“Why all these Democratic governments have been trying to prop up the mullahs is a mystery to me.”
Not to me.
