I was stationed in Southern California back in the early 1980s - mostly Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms bases. I was amazed at how gigantic that area was and how geologically diverse, where one could go surfing in the ocean, skiing in the mountains, and camping out in the desert, all in one day.

Did I say it was a huge state? One time I decided to drive to San Francisco from San Diego with some buddies and it was similar in distance to driving from NYC to Florida and we were still only about halfway up the state.

It's a crime how leftist politicians have ruined it.

I had a great experience out there but already could see the seeds of decline.

“we were still only about halfway up the state”

And the real Northern California - which actually is North of San Francisco - is basically empty.

So why is everyone crowded into a couple of hyper dense population centers? Bizarre.

But tell nobody. Can still buy cheap houses in Redding. They just look like crap.
