CV NEWS FEED // First Lady Jill Biden invited Kate Cox, a Texas woman who unsuccessfully sued the state over its pro-life legislation, to President Joe Biden’s March State of the Union Address.
“The first lady invited Kate to join her as a guest at the State of the Union and Kate accepted,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a Wednesday press conference.
Jean-Pierre added that the first lady and President Biden both “thanked [Cox] for her courage in sharing her story and speaking out about the impact of the extreme abortion ban in Texas.”
The Press Secretary implied that the Bidens’ invitation of Cox is part of a messaging push to emphasize “very personal stories” in order to convince voters to side with the administration’s pro-abortion policies.
“It is important for Americans to hear the [harrowing] stories that we’re hearing from women of their experiences across the country,” Jean-Pierre claimed.
In recent weeks, the widely unpopular Biden has consistently been behind former President Donald Trump in polls. This month, Biden’s approval rating dipped to 33% – the lowest of any president since 2008.
The Cox invitation also comes a week after Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer encouraged Biden to talk more about abortion in order to bolster his struggling re-election bid.
“I think it would be good if he did,” Whitmer said on CBS Sunday. The governor is a co-chair on the president’s re-election campaign.
Biden appears to have taken his close ally’s advice.
“Let there be no mistake: the person most responsible for taking away this freedom in America is Donald Trump,” he said at a Tuesday pro-abortion rally in Virginia. “Trump says he’s proud that he overturned Roe v. Wade.”
Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington blasted the rally, calling it “incredibly devastating” that “Biden would place ‘choice’ over his sacred duty to protect life.” “President Biden has made abortion the centerpiece of his campaign,” Burbidge wrote. “At a rally in Manassas, VA, he advocated for codifying Roe v. Wade into law.”
>> TEXAS RIGHT TO LIFE: PRO-ABORTION GROUP USED COX LAWSUIT AS ‘GATEWAY’ <<
In November, “Cox was 18 weeks pregnant with her third child when her doctor informed her that her unborn child likely had Trisomy 18, a condition also known as Edwards’ syndrome,” CatholicVote previously reported:
Trisomy 18 is a chromosomal condition associated with abnormalities in many parts of the body. Babies with the condition often have slow growth before birth, a low birth weight and about 10% rate of survival after birth.
Represented by the Center for Reproductive Rights, a New York-based pro-abortion advocacy group, Cox sued Texas “requesting a temporary restraining [order] and permanent injunction” on the state’s pro-life law, “so that [she] could abort her child.”
In early December, a Democratic district judge from Texas’ bluest county sided with Cox and granted her a temporary restraining order. However, the Texas Supreme Court blocked the judge’s decision.
Following the court’s decision, Cox decided to travel to neighboring New Mexico where she aborted her daughter, whom she had named Chloe. Cox was 21 weeks pregnant at the time.
Shortly after news broke of Cox’s abortion, pro-life former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-PA, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the story of his teenage daughter Bella, who is living with Trisomy 18.
“[Bella’s] docs put her on hospice at 10 days old,” wrote Santorum, a Catholic.
“Other countries have much higher [Trisomy 18] survival rates than US because they treat the baby not the diagnosis,” he continued. “Every kid deserves a shot at life, not be brutally dismembered for not being perfect.”
Biden will present the State of the Union to both houses of Congress on March 7. It will be his last such speech before he is to face voters in November.
She can go to Washington DC but can not go to a state that allows abortions. This is nothing more then Roe v Wade part 2.
The baby, as in all abortion cases, was unavailable for comment.
And thats the way the decision works. She could just move out of Texas if the politics are so threatening. Just like folks who leave NY and California due to tax law and resettle in places that suit their lifestyles better. If you cant keep yourself from getting knocked up- Texas may not be for you. 👍🏻
Promoting the murder of children in the womb? Go figure!
Go do a web image search for “Trisomy 18” and you’ll mostly see kids with smiling faces.
That’ll fix those of us that protect life.
These people are insufferable.
Hey, Joe Biden claims he is a devout Catholic so I’m sure he will come out as an anti-Abortion aka anti-infanticide supporter.
“Following the court’s decision, Cox decided to travel to neighboring New Mexico where she aborted her daughter, whom she had named Chloe.”
I can’t decide which is sadder - that she aborted her child or that she gave it a name before doing so.
Crime families only hang around with the likes of their own.
