I don't think it will be Newsome. Despite his charisma, he's had two affairs with the spouses of his campaign managers, he's ruined California, and he generally comes off as disingenuous to non-California voters.
Harris is a non-starter. I think the DNC might go into the convention with Biden/Harris, then on the second day Biden will step down and Harris will be the topic du jour, and on the third day the party bosses will whack Harris by manipulating a delegate coup that she never saw coming that votes for the true candidate.
The question of who is an interesting one. I'm trying to decide if it will be someone who's prominent with name recognition or someone who's behind the scenes that nobody knows that the Democrats can paint a portrait of like they did with Obama.
The obvious name is Gretchen Whitmer because she gave the Democrat response during President Trump's first State of the Union address, but I think her COVID-19 policies will be too tough to overcome, plus she violated her own bans on travel. She was pretty draconian in Michigan with her retail shutdowns.
I don't see any other governors with name recognition or policy successes to carry a short election season.
Senators? Elizabeth Warren might be willing, but she's a late-night joke now. Chuck Schumer? At his age, I think he likes it right where he's at. Joe Manchin? Possible, but that would be a Democrat surrender to Trump.
If I were to suggest a charismatic, liked by his party, Obama-light dark-horse candidate (no pun intended), I might go with Hakeem Jeffries. He's been in the limelight since Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer stepped down. The House gave Jeffries a bigger reception than Kevin McCarthy got when McCarthy won the Speakership.
The LAAP-dog media would fall over each other to cover a Jeffries presidential run, and it would sweep aside forever any stain of dumping Harris.
That's my pick for a convention coup -- Hakeem Jeffries.

And that is while dealing with multiple court cases and the family turmoil of his m-i-l’s death. The media forgets (except to mock them) that Trump has a family as well. I know of no other person that could juggle so much and still do a rally and speak for an hour or so. A few restaurant meet-and-greets and soft-ball media interviews require a lot less energy than that.
So many Republican politicians are burning their bridges with the voters with their unreasonable hatred of Trump. While he was President he was implementing policies that they had all promised us for years they would do. The GOP fought him almost every step of the way. In the past, they told us that they tried, but just couldn’t get policies the voters wanted passed. They lied. It could be done.
Each time a politician speaks as Sununu did, I get the suspicion that the person was elected only by agreement between the Dem and GOP party. So many in the GOP have apparently been snookering us for decades, many of whom we would never had suspected.
For instance, look at the the articles at FR regarding the Kari Lake recording. She went public with it. Good for her. What other candidate has been bought out in the past? How many have been bribed or blackmailed into not running? Why didn’t they go public? For exactly how long has this type of stuff been going on in the GOP? Obviously longer than we suspected. And they present themselves as the “principled” party.
A pox on them all!

We agree about completely re Newsome, but his name is out there, as is MOOCH's, but the latter is just "fearporn"!
Hakeem Jeffries has a GIGANTIC "blackball" in his background...his Prof Uncle who started the whole EVERYONE famous and ALL great ideas and science was stolen by whites from the black originators. And the whole anti-White garbage. And though Hakeem doesn't, to my knowledge, push the first part, he does push the anti-white tripe. The whole "OUT OF AFRICA" stuff doesn't play well, blacks aren't the "victims", in the sense that they're sold as being far more intelligent than whites, and there is the tie-in with THE NATION OF ISLAM and Screwy Louis Farrahkan; not to mention the BLM support!

Trey Gowdy…you know that guy who had hearing after hearing to snooker us into believing he was doing something? On FOX SNOOze tonight badmouthing Trump because he went after Nimrata. Trump has to be kinder and gentler to “unite the party”. Luckily another member on that panel set him straight that Trump is still in a competition against his opponent.

Trump pointed out in his speech that she did the same thing in Iowa where she came in 3rd but acted as if she won.
She has plans to stay in and make sure political career is over for good, crazy!
I think that's why the Democrats WILL use Jeffries. He's a platform for all of the DEI CRT stuff that just got Claudine Gay demoted at Harvard. It would be payback to the "white bogeyman" that people like Joy Reid are blaming for everything.
I think the LAAP-dog media will blackwash everything about Jeffries' past, too, and will accuse Republicans of racism if they try to bring it up. They know that President Trump wants to take back the educational system and restore parental rights.
I'd even bet that the Joy Reids and Whoopie Goldbergs of the left would even demand a Jakeem Jeffries/Claudine Gay ticket to run against Trump!
That would even further silence Harris supporters, and the Democrats might even bring back their 2008 strategy of shame-guilting white people into voting for it.
And no, I'm not kidding. They are that arrogant and hateful of "white privilege" that they would campaign on ending "White Supremacy" once and for all with this kind of ticket.
And then they will start burning down red cities to extort the white vote.
THAT's how badly they want to stop President Trump and complete the "fundamental transformation" that Obama started.
I'm serious. I wouldn't put it past them at this point. What do they have left short of another revolution? They tried hoaxing Trump out of office. They tried impeachment, twice. They tried rioting. They tried a false-flag insurrection. They tried lawfare. New York is trying to seize all of Trump's property and business licenses.
Why should we think that what I'm suggesting is too far-fetched?

Even most white DEMS are sick of what happened re the rioting, looting, burning down of cities, and defund the cops garbage. And the whole new Anti-Semitism has a lot of people scared, upset, and angry and NOT just Jews!
Is Hakkeem a possibility? I don't know. But that would be a very dangerous step too far and then, who for VEEP? An ALL black ticket? Throw in a nutcase "Hispanic", such as one of the Texas Commie Castro brothers? Can you just imagine what Trump would say about THAT! LOL

Donald Trump has ALSO broken the record for the highest vote percentage as a share of the overall population in a New Hampshire Presidential Primary, surpassing the record of 11.32% set by Bernie Sanders in 2016. Currently, it’s 11.6% and on it’s way to 12%.
That’s fantastic and very encouraging!
To go back to a more conventional approach, whom might they choose?
They could try Hochul, but then Harris would demand the ticket. Dumping Harris for a white woman who became governor because a white man resigned over sexual misconduct would be ironic, though.
And of course, waiting in the wings is Hillary Clinton to the rescue! While everyone is focusing on a 2020 rematch, it's really going to be a 2016 rematch. Clinton might even keep Harris on the ticket, too.
