Daniel Henninger, writing for the Wall Street Journal, characterized national politics this year as “The Stupid Party vs. the Evil Party.”
That is a very old characterization, and "stupid" refers to tactically stupid or foolish, as opposed to uneducated. P.J. O'Rourke, among others, used it for decades before MAGA.

MAGA simply reflects the philosophy of our nation’s great founders.
Our enemies have no chance in opposing us, other than as they are sustained for a little while by deception.
They cannot be themselves without instant defeat. Intellectually, they are deficient.
