..The trial of the century, Mann v. Steyn, is finally in court after twelve long years. And neither snow nor rain nor according to Axios, an "expansive and record-breaking Arctic air outbreak," could stop today's proceedings. Although the trial began late (due to the aforementioned "record-breaking" freeze), there is a judge, a courtroom, and almost a full jury - the whole kit and kaboodle of American jurisprudence.
Mark's fans came out en masse - in Washington, DC, no less! — which compelled the honorable Judge Irving, presiding, to scramble for an overflow room to accommodate everyone (see below if you would like to join in the fun, "IRL" as the kids say). Online was no different, with dozens listening throughout the day, including "Blunter Hiden" and "StandwithSteyn." Mark and his team appreciate the outpouring of support.
As Judge Irving told the potential jurists today, this is a case about the First Amendment and is therefore a test to see if America still values the rights enshrined in the Constitution. And speaking of the Constitution, no defendant (i.e., Mark) should have to wait 12 years to have his (or her) case heard by a jury of his (or her) peers (the Sixth Amendment), so the whole team is excited to get this show on the road.
First thing in the morning, it is expected that jury selection, or Voir Dire, will continue and then the real fun will begin with opening statements. Stay tuned and check back here often for all the latest and greatest news on the trial.

Oh bs. Folks are out ice fishin in this supposed “record breaking cold snap”- all day long! They packed up at about 9 pm last night, and are right back on the ice again this am.
I’ve pers9nally been on the ice with a -35f and winds whipping to who knows how cold below zero? With no shanty! (My Eddie bower down filled winter coat and carhart overalls sufficed nicely to keep me warm all day, as did hand drilling the holes to fish ou of.)
Many folks have been out in much lower Temps than me as well. And yes, back during the -35, it was about a 2 week spell of Temps well below zero f.
“Record breaking” my foot- maybe in a few towns it got colder than ever, but many places in the US have been mush colder before.

Yes how about a summary of the case for those not paying attention?
It is hard to believe this case has gone on for twelve years. I would love to see Mann lose. Bigley! And, for Steyn to also be awarded millions in attorneys fees.
Michael Mann claimed that Mark Steyn libeled him in one of his columns.
I think Steyn was being sarcastic. The whole case is about the global warming hoax.

Basically Mann produced climate change “research” that included the infamous “hockey stick” prediction that the earth would warm to the point that life would all die out (or something to that effect). However, he refused to show his work and explain how he reached that conclusion. Mark Steyn mocked him in an article on National Review. Mann was butt-hurt, sued Steyn and NR (the case again NR was eventually dismissed) over his hurt feelings and here we are twelve years and millions in attorneys fees later finally going to trial.

Steyn is being sued by NASA “climate expert” Michael Mann, the one who got caught faking his data to “hide the decline”, for defamation, I guess because Steyn had the nerve to tell people that Mann is a hack and a fraud.

Mind you this is a decade after Steyn had to go to free speech court in Canada for correctly fussing about Muslim theology being violent, made all the scarier by demographics (birth rates of Muslims). It seems that before the left made a routine of taking Trump to court, they were doing it to the EIB’s Ice Station host.

“Greetings from America’s diseased and depraved capital city on Day Three of Mann vs Simberg and Steyn in Courtroom 518 of the District of Columbia Superior Court. That’s me at right leaving the courthouse at the end of Day Two and ready to stab my eyeballs out. Judge Irving had to call over seventy jurors in order to find six plus four alternates willing to do impartial justice. But we have them! And today, after half-an-hour of procedural folderol, the jury will be seated and opening statements will begin.”
