A surge of stranded electric vehicles, predominantly Tesla cars, has overtaken the Oak Brook Supercharger station in Chicago, as a severe cold snap renders many EVs powerless and immobile.
Fox 32 reports that the recent wave of freezing temperatures in Chicago has taken a significant toll on EVs, causing an unusual scene at the Oak Brook Tesla Supercharging station. This station, along with many others around the Chicago area, has been crowded with dead Teslas, as owners face difficulties in charging their vehicles.

I suspect that is a factor in the Chicago charging meltdown report. Although Chicago gas prices didn't reach California levels of stupid, it was enough to convince the uninformed to buy or lease EVs as a full time replacement for their primary car.
Aw, I would have taken the test drive.
The F-150 Lightning (and the Mustang Mach-E) are the perfect vehicles for test drives.
Amazing, and I mean really amazing acceleration, and a comfortable and eerily quiet ride.
What you don’t experience on a test drive is the daily hassle of trying to charge the thing, the endless range anxiety on even moderate trips, and the inconvenience of the thing shutting down for no reason.
EVs have their strong points, and it OK to experience them for a short time.
It looks like the “How Dare You” Kids are going be trying to turn Global Freezing into Global Warming.

Yes, even in 1974 people realized that batteries suffer in the cold. Some people in Chicago chose to forget.
