“Wholly owned by the CCP...”
Yep, they helped the rats steal 20 in a big way and they expect a lot more than allowing a surveillance balloon safe passage in return.
What does “Taiwan Independence” mean?
“ Using these three points I can make the statement that the US will not interfere with the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China, which includes that country resolving the question of Taiwan as a matter of internal affairs.”
Where is this quote?
Or is it something you wrote as a paraphrase?
“ 4. The Chinese Government emphasizes that “the question of Taiwan is China’s internal affair”.”
Do you think the Chinese government is the US government?
I assume not.
What does the communique say about the US side’s position on this?
"3. That both sides will have "respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" and to not interfere in each other’s "internal affairs"."
“ It is a paraphrase.”
That’s what I thought.
Just FYI - US does not recognize PRC sovereignty over Taiwan.
The “one China policy” is what’s called a diplomatic fiction.
It’s anachronistic coming from the time one party dictatorships ruled Taiwan and China.
Shanghai Communique is a perfect example of empty rhetoric diplomaticese, open ended double talk.
Look at US law vis a vis Taiwan.
Look at international law also, eg San Francisco Peace Treaty.
Trump was great and overtly ignored this so-called one China policy.
“Chang Kai Shek is rolling over in his grave.”
Big maybe but if he could have convinced Stillwell to have finished off Mao then fought the Japanese that would have been something. Oh well, history is filled with that stuff.

Did double post sorry
That’s what happens when a piece of human debris sells his country out.
Actually, no. Taiwan kept the China seat in the UN and on the UN Security Council unti 1971, when the PRC replaced it. Chiang believed his was the true government of China until the end. Taiwan still hasn’t been (re)admitted into the UN, either as Taiwan, or Formosa, or China, so far as I know.
“ The Government of the United States of America acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China.”
Why not “agrees with” or “shares”?
As far as the fate of Taiwan is concerned the Taiwan Relations Act passed by Congress in 1979 seems to provide the only direction. It says:
It is the policy of the United States— (2) to declare that peace and stability in the area are in the political, security, and economic interests of the United States, and are matters of international concern; (4) to consider any effort to determine the future of Taiwan by other than peaceful means, including by boycotts or embargoes, a threat to the peace and security of the Western Pacific area and of grave concern to the United States

Sorry. My error. The communique was playing catchup for 1971 expulsion.
It has nothing much to do with the UN or PRC.
International Law dictates whether a nation is recognized. THe Montivideo Convention is determinative.
https://lawcorner.in/recognition-of-a-state-under-international-law
Taiwan has been a nation state according to international law since 1945, prior to this Taiwan had been a part of the Empire of Japan by conquest. With Japan defeated the KMT party of CHian Kai-shek took control of Taiwan between 1946 and 1949,and the nation was recognized by Taiwan has been a nation state v=ever since, whether PRC wants you and the world to think so or not, according to international law:
**************************************
“The Second World War’s hostilities came to a close on 2 September 1945, with the defeat of the Empire of Japan and Nazi Germany. Taiwan, which had been ceded to Japan by the Treaty of Shimonoseki in 1895, was placed[by whom?] under the control of the Kuomintang-led Republic of China (ROC) with the promulgation of General Order No. 1 and the signing of the Instrument of Surrender on that day.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Taiwan_(1945%E2%80%93present)
**********************************
Subsequently Taiwan was recognized as a nation state by over 200 nations internationally.
The only way that PRC can make Taiwan lose its status as a nation is to do so by conquest. The PRC would fail in attempting such folly. There would be nothihg left for the PRC to conquer, just a burnt out charred piece of real estate with almost no surviving population or infrastructure...hardly worth the trouble.
The PRC does not represent all Chinese around the world, although they would like you to think so. Its nonsense, even though the PRC had opened PRC police offices across Canada and the USA to pressure the Chinese community to support PRC totalitarian policies.
PRC does not have a magical aura of command over all Chinese any more than Ethiopia represents all of Africans. It is a ridicu;ous cpnc;lusion based on the iodea of “super race” whjoichi beings back the same vile thinking as manifest by such lovlies as Adolf Hitler and his alleged Teutonic super race. Certainly it does not rise to discharge the definition of a nation state according to international law.
PRC certainly has no right or claim to say they represent Chinese everywhere, including Taiwan,USA, Canada and Australia.THese are all nation states and the Chinese people livingthere are exclusive citizens of thoise nations, PRC has no jurisdiction as a nation over any of them because of their race. There is nothing that even begins to support that ridiculous argument in International Law.
A pox on PRC hegemony against Taiwan. Watch President Trump banish PRC ridiculous thinking and bullying of the order of international law.
Other countries have informal relations with Taiwan but don't recognize it as an independent state.
“ Whenever the laws of the United States refer or relate to foreign countries, nations, states, governments, or similar entities, such terms shall include and such laws shall apply with such respect to Taiwan.”
ONlyh a few have full diplomatic ties but over 200 have varfious ties to Taiwan, including trade in micropchips.
It all adds up to one thing....the bully PRC has taken away the freedom of international full diplomacy but the monetary trade connections tell the tale.......Taiwan is a duly recognized State by over 200 nations.
Thats enough to satisfy the Motivedeo COnvention and INternational law.
So all this PRC, one nation , one Chinese race crap is broke.....a Baldly Totalitarian “superiority” racism attempt to turn the whole world into PRC Tibet.
Thats about to change in less than a year.
Other countries have informal relations with Taiwan but don’t recognize it as an independent state. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This is a situation caused by duress created by the PRC. As such it does not matter much according to international law.
All international ties are recognized as a part of the recognition law according to the Motivedeo COnvention and other considerations. Not just “full diplomatic relations” exclusively as you suggest. Thats just incorrect and a bogus adjustment of international law due to PRC created duress on thiord party states.Duress does not prevent recognition of other defactoi ties between nations in thnternational law.National commercoal ties between Taiwan and a plethora of states give the true picture.
Its a laugh to sit back and watch the minionsof CHina attempt to redefine history and fact. Its like an attempted Jedi trick , where they whisler the oizmo word and say, “you see nothing here...move along...” Fortunately the PRC cannot define an alternate reality whichi is not based on any fact except their own sordoid propaganda.
Taiwan is a full partner with the USA diplomatically, despite the weiner like musiongs of the sell out BIden administration....the oresidet has taken millions in back room payments from China, and meanwhile we pretend that the Biden PRC/Taiwan policy has legs? Its a fraud.
I look forward to the coming changes in the US/China relationship and the restoration of the arms supply from the USA to Taiwan now interruopted by BIden.I also look forward to the US Navy base planned for Taiwan in whichi nuclear arms will be forward stored, just like China is now doing secretly in Cuba. The by word? Deterrance, deterrance, deterrance.
