Lai favors Taiwan independence from China. If he wins it will not make China happy. Many think China will invade if Lai wins. This is no time for the USA to have a woke military leadership and a present with oatmeal for brains.

There is a low risk of Chinese invasion, but they will continue their hybrid policy. The Chinese economy is in sharp decline, but as the single decisionmaker of the CCP is Xi, he can do anything. Compare with Putin who invaded Ukraine even though “everyone” including his own military realized it would not work. But, when you are a lone autocrat with a distorted perception of reality, anything can happen.
