Doctors and lawyers have had it great for many decades but AI is a real threat for current grads.

It probably cannot replace all lawyers and doctors but it could reduce demand for them by 50% or more which could lead to a reduction in wages as supply exceeds demand.

AI will be a threat to many jobs, I am glad I am old and have already made what I need personally.

Very true.

Our small company is in the process of enhancing the software app we sell to incorporate AI. As someone who grew up in the computer world (from back in the 70s), generative AI will be as transformative as a) computers, b) the internet, and c) mobile phones -- only bigger.

I even remember when touch-tone phones were all the rage:-).

On a somewhat related note, we use offshore contractors for most of our development, and we have a couple of contractors whose spouses are doctors. Those doctors earn a very, very small percentage of what docs earn in the US -- and we're talking specialists.

As for the lawyers, those $1000 per hour lawyers might want to think about early retirement -- and quickly. Companies like this are moving fast.

Changes are in the wind, and it's going to blow hard!
