U.S. and British warships and aircraft shot down “the largest attack from the Iranian-backed Houthis in the Red Sea to date” overnight, taking down every drone, cruise missile, and ballistic missile, preventing damage to warships and merchant shipping.
Eighteen ‘suicide attack’ drones, two anti-ship cruise missiles, and one anti-ship ballistic missile were launched by Iran-backed Shiite Houthi fighters in Yemen towards the Red Sea overnight on the 9th of January, part of an ongoing effort to attack the economy of Western nations by destroying merchant ships and closing the crucial Red Sea route to trade.
The 21 drones and missiles shot down by the United States Navy (USN) and Royal Navy (RN) on Tuesday night is greater than the 19 Operation Prosperity Guardian has otherwise shot down in the entire operation to date, according to numbers stated by a USN Admiral last week.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attempted strike was a “complex attack of Iranian designed one-way attack [drones]” and missiles launched towards “international shipping lanes where dozens of merchant vessels were transiting”. The aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and F-18s from its airwing, and the destroyers USS Gravely, USS Laboon, USS Mason, and HMS Diamond were involved in the defensive effort.

This is important. I’m sure Biden is staying in constant contact with SecDef Lloyd Austin.
Don’t be so sure, I heard the string between the 2 tin cans was broken my MAGA extremists.
DEFENCE?!?
Would it not be more logical to take out the ability to launch these attacks from Yemen itself as well as blockade Iran from supplying the materiel launched? Are the politics THAT difficult or is there no will to do it from feckless Obama (biden) administration?
Hey! Why not return fire? I mean, if gangstas are constantly firing into my domicile is it sufficient to stick out my tongue and say, “Ha! You missed!”
Sayyyyy... are those sly rascals launching from hospitals and kindergartens again? Shame on them...
I think the overwhelming choice is feckless
Probably using the same tactics like hamas and others (particularly in the middle east) have used. Launch your attacks from an area with lots of civilians, most preferably hospitals and schools in the near vicinity. If you retaliate, the MSM around the world are perfectly happy to jump on board with calling your military lots of mean names.
“Would it not be more logical to take out the ability to launch these attacks”
Not for our new illustrious woke military......after all.....the E in DEI stands for equity......God forbid our side should actually have the advantage.
We serm to be being bled dry of the ammo and other weapons needed to respond to a near future attack upon us or more vital interests by what we are giving Ukraine. Giving Israel, and shooting off against these Houthi (Iranian) drones and missiles.
Won’t that leave the US and Brits with little besides various size nukes and armour/artillery to use if China goes after Taiwan, etc?
Austen is in Yemen launching drones.
When do we start “reducing the threat” in Yemen?
How can’t we, within minutes, not identify launch points in Yemen and take them out?
Our next gulf of Tonkin. Just in time for the 2024 election.
(DEFENCE?!?)
It’s over Dere
By De Tree.
DUH!!! 😜
Exactly
BUMP
DEFENCE?!?
I don't understand why the Mullahs of Iran keep backing so many losers. May be a strategic head-fake while they continue their nuke ambitions. Anyone have a more informed reason for Iran working with both Shia and Sunni muslims, which are supposedly historical enemies.
Wait for a lucky hit that sinks a US or UK Warship. The enemy only needs to get lucky once. Then its send in the Marines and a D-Day like landing in Arabia that will look like Perishing’s invasion of Mexico in 1914—seeking, but not finding, Poncho Villa. Then its all going to be “support the troops” vote Biden!
