If Trump ordered the guard, there would have been a written order signed by him. This hasn’t been produced and pentagon officials testified they did not receive such an order.

Yes. Pence said the same thing., not the exact phrasing though as if recorded, but passed on the same info when told Grassley was now in on the call. The YouTube video shows it without a break in it with superimposed fake timestamps like the twitter video.

That’s one option, but it is not the ONLY option. The DC National Guard reports to the President. They will deploy whenever he orders it. He ordered it after the riots turned violent, and people had died, but he could have far before then.

Trump offered extra guard help several times in the last month leading up to Jan 6th. Pelosi, Schumer and Turtle all gave him the finger.
Per the sources I’ve seen, the President is the Commander in Chief of the DC National Guard. Other options for calling them up exist, but the ultimate authority belongs to the President. He’s the one who called them up on the 6th, eventually.

Patel’s opinions on classified documents are irrelevant when a President declassifies before leaving office. However, a Senator or Vice President does not have the authority to declas or remove classified material or leave them unsecured (in the garage behind their prized Corvette).
