Absolutely surprising considering the goodwill he created by supporting MAGA and governing Florida as a conservative. His flip-flop on Ukraine funding put him in a deep hole as an apparent Globalist puppet and he’s been digging even deeper since then.
He’s done nationally forever and will likely become a lobbyist for Military contractors after his term expires.
Right, he went wobbly on Ukraine and it turned into an avalanche.
I find many who attack Desantis say things I can’t verify. Maybe they are true but when I search I don’t see facts to back those claims up.

I searched it and found while Desantis attacked Putin as a war criminal in March 2023 his more recent comments seem more along traditional conservative lines.
As of December he said he agrees with the main body of republicans in the House who favor limited intervention in Ukraine (as in funding). That he thinks supporting Israel is more important:

This reminds me of a Desantis enemy who said Desantis was in the pocket of globalists who pay him billions. Yet when I went to fact check sites I found his donors were local sources. Such as Repub Governors association and Indian tribes of Florida etc.

That was the most glaring thing for me. One day he takes the position that Trump has. A day or two later, he said the opposite. If every word out of his mouth is put there by handlers, like a recorder in a Chatty Cathy doll, he has no character. Or, he has bad character. He definitely has no core values if he can flip-flop on something as important as a major war in 72 hours.
