Wow! You dinner bill was within a hundred dollars of my first house payment in the 1990’s!
I don’t see how restaurants are going to survive in this environment, people just can’t afford popping off $25 and $50 or more per meal.

I took my Ford Expedition in for service a month ago. It has 95k on the clock. I skipped the 60k big service, so this was a catch-up service. I nothing done but basic fluid changes (three differentials, engine oil, transmission) and spark plugs — $1,800! I told the service manager “That’s more than my first car cost 40 years ago!”
It’s time to start using a local shop instead of the dealer, but the savings won’t be that much. Prices are staggering. I used to do those services myself, but I’m 72 and just don’t enjoy it much anymore. Besides, the house maintenance takes all my time.
The news today said the Fed can lower interest rates because “inflation is under control and below 3%.”
