I have heard from two people very familiar with the DeSantis campaign — a major donor and a high-level political operative — that if the Florida governor loses the Iowa caucuses to former President Donald Trump as expected on the night of Jan. 15, he will either drop out of the race that night or make his announcement the next morning.
More than that, both believe DeSantis will then — very begrudgingly — endorse Trump for president.
Should both predictions come to pass, DeSantis would be jumping on a bandwagon that is dramatically increasing in speed and taking on more and more Republican politicians looking to back the clear frontrunner. Last week, Trump received critically important endorsements from House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (Minn.) and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (La.). Those are on top of Speaker Mike Johnson’s (La.) endorsement just a month ago.
Joining the Minnesotan Emmer was the rest of the GOP congressional delegation from that state: Reps. Michelle Fischbach, Pete Stauber and Brad Finstad.
Trump also just secured the endorsement of Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, quite a substantial one in conservative and faith-based circles, as Cotton became an unplanned “folk hero” to many on the right when the New York Times first ran his opinion piece on June 3, 2020, titled “Send in the Troops” — regarding the protests and riots taking place in many American cities after the horrific death of George Floyd — before disowning the essay after massive backlash from within the paper.

Nixon barely lost in ‘60. He was beaten by fraud. Reagan ran a brilliant campaign in 1976 against a sitting President and Bush parlayed his 1980 campaign into the Vice Presidency. None of this applies to DeSantis. If you must make an analogy, the proper one is Joe Biden, who ran a horrid campaign in 1988, somehow got chosen for VP in 2008 and was installed in 2020. That’s probably Ron’s best bet.
Isn’t it wonderful that candidates feel they must drop out before ONE VOTE IS CAST in a primary. This eighteen month political cycle has got to stop.
Haley will keep ongoing in hopes of something happening to Trump.
He's a disloyal sellout that will never been elected to any office again.
The Banana Republican party ran Bush,Dole,Bush,McCain,Romney, and then Trump infiltrated the party and won it..
Only Dole of those other Republican Presidential timber would even be considered a supporter of Trump or MAGA..
The problem isn’t the voters if they choose Trump
The voters may have been paying attention since 2015 of the actions the co owned swamp have taken against Trump.
Reports like the Durham Report confirm the victim that Trump is..
DeSantis decided to announce his run against Trump AFTER the Durham Report came out..
So did Pence..
They both began and ended their campaigns with that choice.
They just didn’t know it yet..
Anyone notice that the head of the axe is backwards?
I believe the technique back then was to swivel it around as the axe came down.
Florida Lottery: “You’ve got to play to win.”
[I think I’ve quoted correctly.]
PS I appreciate the loyalty.
The reality is a guy capable of such epic fail-
usually has an unimaginable success in the deck too.
It comes with taking higher risks like running for POTUS against Trump. That same level of risk when it works out results in a huge win.
Jill Biden knows the importance of persistence, both as an educator and as a politician’s wife.
“Isn’t it wonderful that candidates feel they must drop out before ONE VOTE IS CAST in a primary. This eighteen month political cycle has got to stop.”
Nothing new and it won’t stop. Failing candidates have to decide how much OPM they want to waste once they know they’re finished. They will need the same money people again next time. The MP often “help” candidates decide when it’s time to get out.
“Anyone notice that the head of the axe is backwards?”
Yes. Then I noticed the metal wedge he’s driving into the trunk with the axe.
Meanwhile.............

President Trump 2024/47 or bust.
Perdona, senor-but the phrase you are looking for is “shoo in”-as in someone who is a sure winner. It does not have anything to do with his “shoes”. Autocomplete is too stupid to know that-you might want to not use it if you want your grammar to be correct...
My thoughts on Ron DeSantis are “in the middle,” compared to most here. I think he was a great governor. DeSantis bravely led victorious charges against covidians, Disney, groomers, Marxist educrats, perverts, race baiters, and voter fraud within his state. The several States have *a lot* of sovereignty in this constitutional Republic. DeSantis should be remembered as one of the best ever state executives.
HOWEVER, I wish DeSantis had refrained from his personal attacks on President Trump. Very few people in DeSantis’ position could have resisted the temptation of vaulting ambition, and he didn’t. I wish the good Governor had waited until ‘28 to run for President.
Retire now, Ron DeSantis. The Republic, for which we stand, is grateful for your fine work in eliminating voter fraud in a swing state with as many electoral votes as yours. Put aside your vaulting ambition and spend some time on your state’s beaches with your ole lady and kids...
Agree 100%-in spite of his somewhat MAGA-sounding one-liners, Vivek also has too many big corporation ties, like any other GOPe type-those guys always end up screwing we, the little people who own or work for small businesses if they get elected-no Vivek, no thanks...
I love Trump as an executive. He was fantastic. But Trump wasn't a good politican. He made mistakes. So DeSantis was right to call him out on that.
I wish the good Governor had waited until ‘28 to run for President.
Why? Should JFK have waited in '60? Slick Willy in '94? Obama in '08?
Sometimes when you have your chance, you go for it. You may never have another chance again.
