The Association of Mature American Citizens Has Quietly Become A Conservative Powerhouse

Move over, AARP. A conservative competitor that rejects the AARP’s liberal political agenda for seniors has 2.2 million members and growing.

or decades now, AARP, which once stood for the American Association of Retired Persons and has been subsequently rebranded as just a set of initials that stand for nothing, has been one of the most influential lobby groups in Washington, D.C. Though AARP was supposed to represent a large and politically diverse cross-section of older Americans, its transformation into an overtly partisan Democrat organization is hard to deny.

Recently, AARP lobbied heavily for the Biden administration’s disastrous and ironically named “Inflation Reduction Act.” AARP’s biggest congressional critic, Sen. Rand Paul, recently noted that of AARP’s 94 congressional lobbying events during debate over the Inflation Reduction Act, only one was held in support of a Republican officeholder. The rest were for Democrats.

As if AARP’s partisan turn weren’t bad enough, the organization has also become a complete sellout. Over half of AARP’s $2 billion in annual revenue no longer comes from dues, but instead comes from corporate royalties, including lucrative arrangements selling insurance to members.

ARAP is nothing more than a insurance sales organization.
ARAP supported HillaryCare, etc.

I tell people that AMAC is like an AARP for non-Communists. AMAC could, but do not, brand Medicare plans. They get commissions by steering you to already existing brands in your local area (such as Himark, Aetna and UPMC in my area) which best serve your individual needs.

Think of medicare plans like employer sponsored healthcare plans (only better, usually)-- the government/employer subsidizes the plan by around $800 monthly but takes your share out of your social security/paycheck.

Plenty of places like that $800 monthly revenue stream.

AARP is just greedy. They sell their brand name in exchange for subpar insurance or higher premiums which you would get for the same money and then use the smokescreen of clever advertising plus their close relationship with big government to convince you are getting a better deal. Sort of like the Democrats sell their programs to women and low information voters.

Welp, time for the media/statists to start their attack, now that AMAC has become a threat.

Couldn’t stand AARP & their blatant support for Democrats like Deming here in Florida. AMAC is a better conservative vehicle.

I am a member of AMAC but aarp has 38 million members, so I'm not so sure that threat is the correct description...it is a start, but there is a long road ahead.

AARP lost me when they supported HillaryCare.

I freakin dislike the new AARP adds with the line (paraphrase)“ And while we may not always agree with the AARP...” for they realize they effed up with their demographic but they are doubling down on their woke BS using their funds to support progressive causes. Much like the mafia unions who pay off politicians for unsustainable golden parachute laws.
AARP woke mafia.

I’ve had Geisinger Gold PPO, for 20+ years; do I have to give that up if I join AMAC?

Finally! An AMA with intelligence we can get behind. Let the old AMA deal with its CoVID DNA insanity problem.

See my post #4. AMAC probably handles that plan.

I think AMAC is a broker that can get you any plan.

I’m not one of them.

It gives me great joy to feed in their “membership card” to the shredder.

Also, I remember AARP supported Clinton’s raise on taxes on soc. sec. When he entered office, 50% of ss was subject to income tax, which was bad enough. But he and his cronies including AARP saw to it that it was raised to 85%. I was always baffled ... how can you be an organization supposedly supporting seniors, yet advocating raising taxes on their pensions?

Better to put bogus info on the card and drop it the mail. It will cost them money to process it.

Government unions lobby for higher taxes on us to support higher than market rate pay, pensions and other benefits for them. They say “tax the rich” but to a large degree the ARE the rich. Richest counties in country surround DC and are full of them. So give THEM what they are asking of US: progressive, ‘windfall’ tax rates on government pay and pensions, when via government union political power they are well above non-union or even private union market rates. Be as fair to them as their contracts were to their employers, us. Side benefit should be smaller government work force, thus less government.
