Because you can be Jewish religiously. You can be ethnically. You can be Jewish through conversion.
Being ethnically Jewish, but liberal worldly, is a thing. They were born a Jew, but they don’t care if Judaism survives. George Soros is an example of a Jew who does not mind the elimination of Judaism. He sent hundreds, if not thousands to their deaths when he was a wee lad in Germany by pretending to be a scared Yiddish child but running to the Nazis when he found a family of Jews to be sent to their deaths.
