He’s not being wholly ironic, but he does say up front that he doesn’t like Haley. If he could find somebody else who brings Trump the votes that he thinks Haley brings him he’d gladly support that person. He’s in California, so I don’t think he’s heard from all the people here who say that Haley would never get votes in the South.

It’s called concern trolling. “I really hate Haley, and I’m on your side guys, but we may have to accept a Haley VP slot as the only path to a Trump win.”
