I’m glad to see at least some people escaping the flames.
Ping
Sky News says all people on the Airbus 350-900 were evacuated.
All 400 escaped
The whole plane caught fire

I hope so, but that fire didn’t look good at all. As a former controller, I wonder what happened?
A Coast Guard plane carries over 300 passengers?
The headline and summary are as jumbled up as I’ve seen for quite a while. The JAL A350 had 367 onboard. I haven’t seen any details about the Coast Guard plane.
Looking at the airport map, I suspect the landing JAL aircraft hit the coast guard aircraft while it was crossing the runway. I am sure it will be a while before an answer is forthcoming.
that’s good news
There were 6 on the coast guard plane.
Reportedly the JAL plane struck the Coast Guard plane with its left wing just after landing. The Coast Guard plane was on its way to provide earthquake relief.
Has Japan done the same?
“ We’ve been expecting such an event in the USA due to DEI affirmative action hiring practices.
Has Japan done the same?”
Now this is an interesting question. It is my understanding that historically Japan is a very hard society for foreigners to penetrate. I wonder if this has changed in the last twenty years .
It’s always a comfort while seated in the terminal waiting for your flight to see a massive fireball form on the runway.
Isn’t that the truth!….
….…just returned from a trip, the flights were fine and uneventful
…but not eager to do that again anytime soon
The headlines needs to be fixed: Japan Airlines WITH 356 people on board collided with Coast Guard plane, is better written. My High School Journalism teacher would fail today's journalists!

Ugh. I’m flying today, too. Though this was really a miracle for everyone except the poor CG crew. I imagine airline passengers will be paying attention to the safety briefings today.
