Phoenix prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of fatally stabbing a 29-year-old woman on an Arizona hiking trail.
Maricopa County Attorney’s Office filed the notice of intent Friday around 5pm - a move the family of late Lauren Heike said they 'support' seven months after the brutal killing.
Zion Teasley, 22, is accused of stabbing the esthetician 15 times in the back and chest after stalking her on the Reach 11 trail in broad daylight in April.

I second that (no pun intended).
I love hiking and have never felt the need to carry a weapon while out alone. I have now rethought that.
My point is these incidents are fortunately rare and that they should not dissuade solitary hikers any more than the prospect that you might get into a fatal accident while driving on an interstate highway.
faces the death penalty? He should already be dead. Really sick of the system protecting these psycho killers
PICK ME THE CORRECT ANCESTRY——
Defense lawyers should be liable when this happens, as should the judge. I would say that any judge who releases someone who then goes out and kills someone within the next year should be immediately removed from the bench. It’s malpractice. You shouldn’t get to feel good about yourself as a ‘bleeding heart’ when your actions have led to the death of someones child or loved one. Scummy judges with an agenda. Replace them with AI. Couldn’t be worse.
I hate the way the Daily Mail writes their headlines, like it is so outrageous to think a perp could get the death penalty for brutally killing a woman!
Add my voice to the chorus - I did a lot of solo hiking for decades. After the first time I was stalked (I think from the tracks it was a bear) I carried. After they “re-introduced” wolf packs I up-gunned. These days I just don’t solo hike wilderness trails and on close-to-home ones I carry. Sad fact is, the two-legged monsters are the real threat.
Steve Buscemi had all that cash, too, and could have easily paid for 1/2 the car.
Besides, you want your Ciera to be a different color than tan, anyways.
Be sure to get that TruCoat finish, though...
In a case like this I cannot see why anyone would oppose the death penalty. He is a serial predator. His brain is not right, and we should neither feed him for 50 years nor risk that some future parole board lets him out of prison. We do not need him for anything.
The modern trend of young beautiful women deciding to hike alone, just leaves me speechless. The modern girl boss, you go girl, etc. mentality has left American young women growing up in our society completely ignorant to the reality humans have known for thousands of years. And at the very moment young women are hiking in the wilderness alone, we have lead in millions of feral males from the third world.
Tragic… teach your daughters well.
Rabid animals should be euthanized.
I remember hearing of a girl in Tulsa OK fifty three years ago who was murdered in such a fashion. Jogging out early one morning.
But first, they should be spayed or neutered.
Why aren’t the people who deemed him fit to return to society held accountable for their deadly error in judgment?
I’ve read many of these things, Manhattan, San Diego, Ca, Iowa, Arizona. On beaches, jogging, hiking, bike riding, all by themselves. That guy who beheaded those girls and threw their heads in the canals was in Arizona.
well for women we increasingly are targets.......men attack women, and women don’t attack men randomly, just for nothing...
so we've got to the point where a young woman can't go outside anymore?...
this past week, there has been a number of males attacking and killing their wives, or exs or girlfriends...
the problem isn't women or girls.....
Just another son of Obeyme.
Besides dangerous animals besides this one.
