That’s a very significant point: The really true-to-their-faith Muslims have declared war on us basically forever, and did so a long time ago. WE get tired of these things rather quickly these days.
The latest — these Houthi characters are tough dudes, at least when they think they have the advantage. And make no mistake, they can do serious harm. The real elephant in the room is not increased shipping costs, it is the increased shipping times, especially from Asia to Europe, and the ultimate fallout(s) from that.
This is oversimplistic, but, if shipping times typically go up, say, 25%, deliveries quantity goes down by the same amount less excess shipping capacity if available. I have no idea what overcapacity was B4 all this blew up, but, if it was for some particular carrier type 10% (seems like a lot), then you have a deliveries shortage of 15%. Depending on the commodity, whether domestic production can ramp up quickly (usually pricey, because if domestic production is reliably competitive, why import in the 1st place?), etc., shortages can drive prices up in a hurry.
So, what you are looking at here is in some categories massive inflation. Biden is on the ropes in the US primarily because of inflation, and Europe is in many countries more volatile yet, as they have REALLY faced some high inflation the last couple years. Ie., the shipping disruptions could get a lot of politicians thrown out of office.
THAT is the driver behind our intervention (such as it is) in the end. Problem is, a lot of our citizenry gets hurt if the Houthis’ (actually Iran’s) plan succeeds...

I would modify your statement changing “we Christians” to “civilized people everywhere”. I view these barbarians exactly as I do rodents, roaches, bed bugs, etc., i.e., do whatever will effectively and quickly exterminate them.
