Way, way back when I was just a dumb old plumber (before I got my degree in fluid dynamics), we used to have to auger those damn things out of the waste lines, contrary to popular belief THEY DO NOT DEGRADE IN THE LINES!
We called them “white rats”.
And a lot of them were down there just as a practical joke!
