President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Thursday to implement a pay raise for civilian federal workers in the upcoming year. The approved measure solidifies a 5.2% average increase, marking the most significant pay raise for federal employees in over four decades, according to Government Executive.

The raise, outlined in Biden's fiscal 2024 budget proposal from March, comprises a 4.7% across-the-board boost to basic pay and an additional average 0.5% increase in locality pay.

Simultaneously, the fiscal 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, anticipated to be signed by Biden this week, paves the way for military service personnel to receive an average 5.2% pay raise in the coming year, Government Executive reported.

This 5.2% hike stands as the most substantial pay increase authorized for federal workers since the 9.1% average raise during the Jimmy Carter administration in 1980. Additionally, it represents a 0.6% increment from the previous year, which itself marked a 20-year high.

I remember being in the Air Force during the Carter double-digit inflation times of 1980, and getting a 5.5% pay raise while inflation was over 14%.

Federal workers? An oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one.

There was a time when working for the feds was low pay and looked down on because what the federal worker was willing to trade off for that low pay was great benefits, never having to work much, and never being fired, it was removing oneself from the world of hard work, competition, and aspirations in exchange for a faceless lazy security.

JFK unionized them and now they get the great pay also.

The Bidet regime created a deliberately inflationary economy. After election day, expect the Fed to cut the money supply, which can cause a sharp stock market decline and recession. Plan accordingly.

And they all “work from home” now. DC is now a ghost city. Covid-19 was almost 4 years ago.

5.2 percent for the demigods, and 3.2% for the peons- it’s funny how gov workers always need so much more a raise than everyone else each year.

During the oblama reign of terror, when there was supposedly “no cost of living” Increase for a couple of years, the gov workers all got their raises while the elderly sick and disabled got nothing.

That’s because any Federal employee will tell you that they can make more in the private sector.

From what I’ve seen, to the degree that is actually true, it’s because a Federal employee can get a job with a government contractor and use their inside knowledge to steer contracts.
