Tell ya the truth, I think I like these changes.

Solitary confinement can drive you literally insane, permanently. It is cruel punishment, if not unusual.

And who can possibly be against cops recording their own behavior?

You need to look at it from the viewpoint of a good cop.

Solitary confinement: I can no longer isolate this convict, even for his own protection.

Street stop: That looks like a crime going down, but do I want to go through the hassle of all the paperwork involved? Or should I just drive on to the donut shop?

“who can possibly be against cops recording their own behavior?”

Agreed. Rodney King coulda gone down a whole different way.

Something similar happened in my town a couple of months ago. Perp claimed police brutality after he ended up with 2 black eyes and other cuts and bruises.....multiple police body cams shows he got tazed while fleeing and did a header on a curb.
So really, he did it to himself.

Having to document the age, chosen gender and race for every tourist asking for directions?

“ Solitary confinement can drive you literally insane, permanently. It is cruel punishment.”

So what do you do with the violent sub-80 IQ feral who is a constant danger to those around him even in a jail setting? Properly used it’s not punishment but done for the safety of the other inmates.

“And who can possibly be against cops recording their own behavior.”

Don’t we have body cameras for that? What this law does, as I understand it, is require a written report of every single interaction with the public. Could you do that? While this may sound good, and the Left is expert at making terrible policy sound good, the result will be cops simply refusing to interact with the public at all.

I suspect that is the real goal of this.

If it's truthful recording then yes. However, I can see where lots of these "recordings" will get lost.

How about if a cop is ordered to violate someone’s Constitutional rights?

The cop might be more inclined to obey an illegal order if he knows his body cam will record his refusal.

I guarantee you that’s why higher ups like them.

Body cams weed out the non-compliant.

Body cams are a two-edged sword.

Citizens need to be aware of that.
