In 1929, Section 1325 criminalized undocumented immigration for the first time. Its aim was to decrease Mexican immigration.

Though authorities could still deport immigrants who hadn’t gone through an official entry point, they couldn’t be detained and prosecuted for a federal crime. But that all changed in 1929 when the U.S. passed a bill to restrict a group of immigrants it hadn’t really focused on before: people who crossed the U.S.-Mexican border.
During World War II, prosecutions under Section 1325 decreased as the U.S. sought more labor for the war effort. In 1942, the U.S. started the Bracero Program to bring over more than 300,000 Mexican guest workers for short-term agricultural projects. This helped fill a labor shortage while many Americans were fighting overseas.
The Bracero Program continued until 1964, but even after it ended, the U.S. didn’t make prosecuting immigrants under Section 1325 a priority....
It wasn’t until George W. Bush’s presidency that the U.S. began to prosecute people under Section 1325 more regularly.

Why don't you ask that of the Texas State Legislature? You do realize that he's a Governor, right? You do realize that a governor can't sign legislation that the legislature hasn't put on his desk, right?

That little prick has formed an alliance with the rino’s and the House Democrats and they have caused a lot of damage to Texas. Abbott is a lot like most Republican Senators. I believe it was simply the last straw, my friend. Seems to me Texas has more of a history for “not backing down” than knee-jerk reactions. We’ve been focused on doing the right thing where a man who was elected to be our president is concerned. After such devastating results, we have reached (finally) a point where it doesn’t matter what the consequence. I back Governor Abbott 100%. He’s been in a wheelchair for 30 years but he stands head and shoulders above Biden. As an aside, emjoyed reading your “about” page. You are a gifted man and patriot. Absolutely true. The State of Texas needs to start actually defending it's borders. We are being invaded, and I say that without the slightest bit of hyperbole.
