Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis broke campaign finance law by communicating about TV spending decisions with a big-dollar super PAC that is supporting his Republican bid for the White House, a nonpartisan government watchdog group alleged in a complaint filed Monday.

The Campaign Legal Center cited recent reporting by The Associated Press and others in the complaint, which was filed with the Federal Election Commission. It alleges that the degree of coordination and communication between DeSantis’ campaign and Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting him, crossed a legal line set in place when the Supreme Court first opened the door over a decade ago to the unlimited raising and spending such groups are allowed to do.

In a statement, DeSantis spokesman Andrew Romeo said the complaint was “baseless,” rooted in “unverified rumors and innuendo,”

Breaking of FEC rules and regulations had been planned by desantis all along, as evidenced by how he laundered state level campaign funds to neverbackdown's federal level presidential campaign funds, before he announced he was running for president.

The icing on the cake is all the coordination that has been occuring with neverbackdown hosting and transporting desantis to events, and how the desantis's directed their campaign would be run.

Now to see if the FEC does anything.

Provide evidence that what the articles say happened, isn’t true.

Otherwise, you’re just another person who lies about things, just like desantis lies about any and everything.

All campaign finance laws try to rigg campaign donations and spending to favor some and disposess others of equal “freedom of speech” (and its money that funds speech) protections.

Care to show how the deliberate laundering desantis did of his $83 million state level campaign funds he raised to run for governor, to the neverbackdown superpac, wasn’t against mccain-feingold?

And how neverbackdown actually transporting, planning and hosting events for him, wasn’t showing cooperation and collusion?

Really, I think all he’s saying is that you gave him a severe case of DeSanctus Reactionary Butthurt.

Facts are irrelevant.

Knock it off with this crap. Accusing any American politician of “breaking campaign finance laws” is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.” (U.S. Army Capt. Benjamin Willard).

I have an inkling that it is very easy to innocently run afoul of campaign finance laws due to their complexity and gotchas.

Is money donated to a candidate, or a pac for a candidate, really only about that candidate and a particular office, or is it most of all about backing the person/candidate? Who - besides the legal purists - is it that thinks money they gave to DeSantis run for governor they are now upset that what was left of that money went to DeSantis POTUS campaign? Is that any different than money left over from one campaign allowed to go for the same person four years later? Do all those who supplied that money four years ago still support that candidate?

All money in economics is fungible. Why is that not the same in politics?
