Putin says Russia has no plan to attack NATO, dismisses Biden remark as 'nonsense'

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin dismissed as complete nonsense remarks by U.S. President Joe Biden that Russia would attack a NATO country if it won the war in Ukraine, adding that Russia had no interest in fighting the NATO military alliance.

The war in Ukraine has triggered the deepest crisis in Moscow's relations with the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, and Biden warned last year that a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia would trigger World War Three.

In a plea to Republicans not to block further military aid earlier this month, Biden warned that if Putin was victorious over Ukraine then the Russian leader would not stop and would attack a NATO country.

"It is complete nonsense - and I think President Biden understands that," Putin said in an interview published on Sunday by Rossiya state television, adding that Biden appeared to be trying to justify his own "mistaken policy" on Russia.

"Russia has no reason, no interest - no geopolitical interest, neither economic, political nor military - to fight with NATO countries," Putin said.

Regardless of motives, Russia has no reason to believe they would prevail against NATO.

The air power mismatch is severe.

And Putin's statement about state interests is telling.

Posted because nobody else would post this, even though it's been the headline on Yahoo for over 4 hours.

I can take the heat.

Putin has said this from day one. If we had left him alone, Ukraine would be at peace now and better off.

“’It is complete nonsense - and I think President Biden understands that,’ Putin said in an interview published on Sunday...”

Putin is wrong. Biden doesn’t understand anything unless there’s a cash payment

“The West, Putin said, had failed to understand the extent of the changes ushered in by the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, which he said had removed any genuine ideological basis for a confrontation between Russia and the West.”

Now it’s a simple bid for power, dominion and resources. And the west abandoned any respect toward peaceful coexistence and established spheres of influence.

The west wants dominion over Russia’s immense resources. Oil, gas, minerals and timber. And the largest plot of arable land in the world.

The end of the cold war left two communities feeling very cheated. The leaders of our military community felt like a pro team, spoiling for the big game and the opponent went home. They desperately wanted F-15s fighting Soviet MiG 29s.
Our defense industry and bankers were appalled at the idea of no reason for massive DOD spending.

Those two have spoiled for a direct Russo/US war since 1991 after their cause was orphaned. Nothing devastated our leaders as hard as the Russian army dropping to 10% of it’s Fulda Gap days size.

Those pressures are there, and the globalists (DC/London) are also salivating at bringing the huge Russian resource base under their control.

It just doesn’t do for a large nation to have a debt load of less than 20% of GDP and a 13% flat tax with no filing required. Our bankers don’t like that kind of thing.

It’s a total-nonsense lie. Russia would grab the Baltic states the minute they thought they could get away with it.

“Putin attacked Ukraine after insisting for months there was no plan to do so. “

EVERYBODY KNEW THAT WAS A LIE.

Russia had existential interests at stake and 10 armored divisions on the border.

“Russia would grab the Baltic states the minute they thought they could get away with it.”

But they cannot “get away with it”.

Just like China would neutralize Japan tomorrow...if they could get away with it.

“But now we know it is not a lie?”

Of course.

There are no existential interests at stake and Russia does not have the means to fight NATO directly.

I really believe those present at this 1990 conference sincerely wanted and were planing for peaceful coexistence between NATO and Russia.

There were no existential interests at stake in regards to Putin invading Ukraine. Putin is a USSR KGB Agent dinosaur that Time Forgot.
April 25, 2005
Russian President Vladimir Putin told the nation Monday that the collapse of the Soviet empire “was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century” and had fostered separatist movements inside Russia.

In his annual state of the nation address to parliament and the country’s top political leaders, Putin said the Soviet collapse also was a tragedy for Russians.

“First and foremost it is worth acknowledging that the demise of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century,” Putin said. “As for the Russian people, it became a genuine tragedy. Tens of millions of our fellow citizens and countrymen found themselves beyond the fringes of Russian territory.

The Bush cabal had no intention of honoring those commitments...otherwise they would have proposed a treaty and easily got it ratified.
