They hardly know how bad they’re influenced by this culture.

For example, until I retired recently, I was going around the country teaching Microsoft stuff. As soon as I said I was from Alabama, I got guffahs and laughs. According to the Leftist culture, my state is a racist, black lynching, cousin/sister sexing, moonshine drinking, meth making, trailer park dwelling hell hole.

It’s not true.

People who actually come here are frankly surprised by how nice it is.

For a while I was a pro-Alabama evangelist, telling all how wonderful it is here, how beautiful and peaceful, with the nicest folks you’ll meet, and how blacks and whites get along better than most other places in the USA...

I had a young person tell me how awful my generation and my parent’s generation were—the worst misogynist and racists ever—and how could we not see that? Yet they have a host of prejudices from current culture and guess what? They don’t even see it themselves. Because the current culture tells them so. Try to explain that slavery didn’t start in the American South, that the Jews had a homeland in Israel long before the 20th Century, that the police don’t kill 1,000s of black men annually, that Florida isn’t banning books, that Christian people don’t want to hang gays and lesbians, or kill trans people...

Now that I’m retired I don’t want to leave. Let ‘em believe their own BS.

It's like that throughout the south. That is until the yankees from up North want to retire. Then they can't get here(the entire south) fast enough. Most can't get away from what goes on in the northeast fast enough from the weather to the govt. to the crime. It all sucks North of the Carolinas. Problem is they bring their politics with them.
