An American destroyer on Saturday shot down more than a dozen drones in the Red Sea launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, the U.S. Central Command said.
"The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS CARNEY... operating in the Red Sea, successfully engaged 14 unmanned aerial systems launched as a drone wave from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen," CENTCOM said social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The aerial vehicles were "assessed to be one-way attack drones and were shot down with no damage to ships in the area or reported injuries," according to the statement.

When does sending drones to a ship start sounding like a warlike action?
“assessed to be one-way attack drones”
Not to be confused with “Hi, neighbor, just thought I’d drop by” types of drones.
You would think that the drone launch sites could be targeted as soon as the drones were launched if not by incoming then at least by surveillance drones of our forces
One would think, with our satellites over head, we’d know from where and when these are launched allowing for a rapidly fired Tomahawk or such down their throats.
Excellent point.
If the CIA can use a satellite in space to read a newspaper a man is holding on a park bench then the Defense Department or someone can see drones being launched by Islamists.
Or maybe autonomous solid-state lasers...
Another example of weakness inviting aggression. We could carpet bomb this place but that might anger Iran.
“If the CIA can use a satellite in space to read a newspaper a man is holding on a park bench...”
They can’t. Diffraction limits make that impossible regardless of adaptive optics, post-processing, etc.
Looks like we are in it—We are fighting on Israel’s side—that Means our ships can become targets.
drone to intercept cost ?
as opposed to HAMMERing the houti sites,
ok Iran, bring it !

Maybe that is exactly what the Warmongers in Washington are hoping for, I heard this on Steve Bannon’s War Room the other day, we have 2 carrier battle groups in and around the middle east, Iranian proxies are shooting at our ships, what if one of our escort ships gets hit and damaged resulting in the deaths of US personnel.
Think back to the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam, that incident resulted in deeper involvement of the US in the war.
Maybe the freaks in Washington need a war in 2024 to create chaos in an attempt to influence the outcome of the election.
I’m just saying things don’t always appear what they seem to be and this could one of those things.

Yup. The Tomahawks cost a few $million each. Laser shots are essentially free. Someday we’ll figure these things out.
Great idea. Carpet bomb a one mile radius around each launch site. America has no spirit to win anymore.
Remember back when we had a REAL president who launched “Operation Praying Mantis” in response to this kind of thing? Yeah, that was awesome.
Drones to interceptors is probably break even, or even more favorable to the defenders, assuming they were really missiles with some form of precision guidance. Intercepting al-Qassam with a ballistic accuracy larger than the state of Israel, with high performance interceptors is not.
Iran buzzes U.S. warships with intelligence drones all the time, and the U.S. routinely deploys intelligence drones to spy on potential adversaries, while respecting their sovereign airspace. The U.S. Tomahawk is a one-way drone, as was the German V-1. The U.S. reaper is a reusable lethal drone, which these targets were not "assessed to be".
