Emboldened by battlefield gains and flagging Western support for Ukraine, a relaxed and confident President Vladimir Putin said Thursday there would be no peace until Russia achieves its goals, which he says remain unchanged after nearly two years of fighting.

It was Putin’s first formal news conference that Western media were allowed to attend since the Kremlin sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022. The highly choreographed session, which lasted over four hours and included questions from ordinary Russians about things like the price of eggs and leaky gymnasium roofs, was more about spectacle than scrutiny.

The Russian Army revolted in 1917. Remember that.

Joe Biden failed in Afghanistan is the Republican message so why was Biden supported by Republicans in Ukraine after they said he was a failure in Afghanistan?

trying to recall the goals

I don’t believe the plan was to conquer all of Ukraine but one goal was to remove anything “nazi” from the government and military. That would require a complete capitulation.

But every day I see multiple threads posted here about Ruzzia losing ground and having had 95% of their military wiped out?

trying to recall the goals

SMO had four objectives:

- neutralize Ukraine (no NATO)
- demilitarize Ukraine
- liberate Russian-speaking peoples of Ukraine
- denazify Ukraine

The performance by Putin puts me in mind of a description of the "Tsar and boyars" script found in this essay by a Finnish intelligence officer, dated April 2022:

https://ricochet.com/1214468/finnish-intelligence-officer-explains-the-russian-mindset/

"Last summer, Putin was on live television and took some of the boyars with him. These were the governors of different regions in Russia. A man called Putin and said, for example, “In our area, this road network is in poor condition.” Putin turned to the governor of the area and asked, “why are the roads are in poor condition? Fix them.” The governor replied, “Yes, Mr. President.” The caller said, “Thank you, Mr. President, for taking care of this.” So, the boyar procedure still works, even on live television.

The image projected is that of the infallible Tsar, controlling a net of underlings who owe him for everything they have and do.

If you are pressed for time, scroll down to the heading "The Importance of the Boyars". Very revealing. Naturally the boyars will see to it that Putin gets an overwhelming majority ion this so-called "election". A boyar who fails will be for the chop.

Zeepers are a blood-thirsty and delusional lot.

The repugnant Zeeper "BeauBo" and others on one of the daily Ukraine propaganda threads, including thread-owner "SpeedyInTexas" are gleeful about things (they claim, dubiously) like the possibility of driving the Russian DOA numbers up to 500,000 "Ruzzians" by Christmas. (ethnic slurs are big with them, and while not tolerated anywhere else on Free Republic are apparently OK when done by Zeepers)

They have this fake count of "destroyed Russian tanks" that they feel proves that Ukraine is winning. The ruble is going to crash next year, just wait and see! So I was told today.

Did this “Putin” talk about losing the Battle of the Black Sea to a country without a navy?

OK, Genius:

How many ships does the Russian Navy currently have. (include nuclear missle and other submarines)?

How many ships does the Ukraine Navy currently have?

I'll wait.

Yawn. Bolshevik gaslighting never changes through the decades. The hatred and self loathing of Kremlin’s useful fools always seeps through, though.
