That is only partially correct; what was absolutely obstructed, were the legitimate challenges to the certification of electors that we all knew were scheduled and were going to occur. The senators and the house members that were lined up for these challenges was known well in advance of January 6th. It was going to happen.
The only thing that could derail that from taking place, was the House Emergency Rules, which conveniently came into effect as soon as there were reports of Bombs at the RNC/DNC HQs and the security breach at the Capitol.
