I never knew Indians are “Asian”.

I work with teams in Europe and Asia daily - it's an eye-opener to realize that the rest of the world is referring to Indians when they say "Asian". This is especially true in the UK, but it's pretty much true that "Asian" includes "Indian" everywhere except the US - here, our liberals decided that "Oriental" was no longer acceptable, so we use the word "Asian" for the people we used to call "Oriental".
