It sounds like SCOTUS will hear arguments on why they should or should not expedite this case. They can still kick the can back down the road to the Appellate level. It does not mean they will hear the case until it has gone through the appeal process.

This signals Smith's case in Florida is not going to be heard before the election. He needs the DC case to get a conviction before the election. He does not care if it is tossed on appeal he wants to damage Trump. He knows the Marxist Judge has already convicted Trump.

It's not unprecedented. Look up United States v. Nixon in 1974, the Supreme Court ruled against Nixon and ordered that he should release the tapes sans any appellate court ruling.
