The impact goes further. Many of the small businesses that are near the federal office buildings are going belly-up. Restaurants, shops, etc. have seen their patronage decline. Metro Ridership is down 40%. I am sure DC has seen a decline in tax revenue.

On the other hand, the federal worker can work from home. no commuting, lower dry cleaning costs, no restaurant expense for lunches, etc. Teleworking is a racket.

Having lived in DC like you, at least the traffic might be better.

Getting over the Potomac or the Springfield interchange at 5:00 PM was a nightmare.
