U.S. Southern Command announced the beginning of Air Exercises in Guyana’s Airspace today in conjunction with the Guyana Defense Force in order to Strengthen Regional Cooperation; this Exercise comes following Venezuela’s claim to Annex over 70% of Guyana Territory and the Mysterious Crash of a Bell 412 Transport Helicopter with the Guyana Air Force yesterday in the “Disputed” Region.
The Venezuelan Government has reportedly given ExxonMobil and several other Oil Companies, who were given Permission by Guyana to launch Expeditions off the Coast of the Country to find Oil Deposits, less than 90 Days to Vacate their Operations in Guyana’s Territorial Waters.

Brazil is a much larger, much richer country but it is ill equipped for a fight. The Brazilian air force is tiny compared to the modern, well-equipped Venezuelan air force and its army is relatively weak as well - and lacks the capacity to project power in this region at all (there are few roads and there is no rail infrastructure). If the Venezuelans decide to invade Guyana, the United States is the only force that can stop them. Of course Guyana is an ally of the Chinese so maybe the Chinese will beat us to it.
